Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Conga
A happy New Year! Grant that I
May bring no tear to any eye
When this New Year in time shall end
Let it be said I've played the friend,
Have lived and loved and labored here,
And made of it a happy year.

Letters to Santa

Two days late (which is probably better service than most of my customers get) and it's not really a letter to Santa but a kid delivering his list in person. . . kinda the same theme, anyway, I guess.

Christmas letters

We didn't have the american version of Santa Claus in my country when I was growing up (we do now), so I thought it would be interesting to post 'Grandfather Cold', because it was him that I used to write letters to.

Cookies anybody?

Happy Holidays WaWe! And Peeps!

Sorry I haven't been around much. I have far too much going on in my life right now and am just managing to tread water!

Kitchen renovation is heading into week three. Looks like it will be longer than 4 weeks because of the holiday next week. I would never ask anyone to work on a holiday weekend. Holidays should be sent with loved ones.

My book art is not progressing as quickly as the kitchen, however. I had no idea how distracting having the kitchen torn apart would be for me. I mean the studio is on the OTHER side of the house from the kitchen. But there is kitchen stuff everywhere and I keep tripping over it and not knowing where stuff is and it's making me a bit nuts.

And if that wasn't enough, I am having medical issues again. So I spent several of my days going to various doctors' offices for various tests. I am not pleased.

Above are the only holiday cookies I will be able to make this year. Enjoy them! So grateful to be a part of this wonderful group of artists.

PS. If any of you like Cyd Moore, I interviewed her on my blog yesterday. She is as fun in person as she is in her artwork. Please stop by and leave me a comment! Daily Art Food

I'm a little behind, sorry, this time of year gets a little nutty. But here are the B&W's for Let It Snow. I'm going to try to get the painting done in the next few days.

Let it Snow

This is my first post. I haven't really worked on watercolor for a long time. I'm glad to be included in WaWe because I think it will rekindle my enthusiasm for watercolor. It is my favorite medium but it is so frustrating...this can be seen in my illo. Started out okay with pure watercolor in the landscape portion but blew it with the subject...hence, acrylic to cover up the mistakes. Hopefully, practice will teach me how to avoid that. If they were all perfect, I'd be driving a nicer truck.

Thanks for the invite, Linda. Happy to be here.

Let it snow

This is an oldie but still a favorite of mine. The original was sent to a friend in Portugal who is a big fan of beagles :-) We adopted our dog Constance a little over 6 years ago. They were not sure how old she was then, somewhere between 6 and 8. So she is at least 12 years old now, a senior girl, but still full of energy. And she has these long, long ears that flap in the wind!

Santa Letter

"Dear Santa: Please bring the cat lots of toys to play with. Love, Mouse." This was a quick one that popped into my head. Mr. Mouse would like "world peace" (in the mouse world) and one way to do that is to keep the big cat busy!

Let it Snow!

Snowy days are best spent with friends, so let it snow!

Tried to adjust the light and dark in PS but it still doesn't look quite like the prescanned original.

Let it snow... as long as we have our lanterns

Let it Snow (correction)

The horse's knees were bothering me, so had to fix them. Also, adjusted little girl's face!

Let it snow...(I wish)

As long as she can be with her best friend, it can snow and snow and snow...

Let It Snow (Winter Nostalgia)

Twenty years has gone by since I last saw you.
I still remember your crisp scent in the morning.
Your soft touch as the wind blew.
The cold awakening as I gathered you in my hands.

Now it's that time of year,
when everything seems clear as yesterdays.
Those days when I would leap in joy,
to catch you in my arms.

Winter has come.
How I miss you terribly...

Thanksgiving Thoughts

Thanksgiving Pumpkins
Thankful = Friendship, Family, Fall, Food & the Lovely things in life - flowers and otherwise.
I'm thankful for a holiday that slows me down and makes me take notice of the little perfect things in life.

I wish you could see the original... the scanner that I'm using at the moment just changes all the bright colours into mud.
