Big & Little

This is a cover for a new book that I have written and illustrated.
To be published sometime in 2012.
Thought it would work perfectly for the big and little prompt.

So Near and Yet So Far

A little late, but here's my take on Near and Far.

little big

I did this awhile ago and I guess it could be considered little/big as some of the hats are larger than others.

Little and Big

With all the Halloween decorations out I was inspired to paint this design for "Little and Big" hope you have a GREAT Halloween......

Near and Far

Sometimes the future seems so near yet so far away!

Near and Far

I am so excited to have a piece that fits this week's prompt! This is a portfolio piece that went through many, many versions and color studies. I think I like it now. ;)

Day and night

Here is a design I did for "Day and Night." I tweaked it in Photoshop to get the earth tone colors. I think next time I might try to paint it like this rather than doing it in photoshop. :)

Day and Night

"They walked all day, and they walked all night."

I envision this piece being used in an elephant story I'm working on. I just love elephants.

Original Members

While cleaning up the blog today, I discovered that Watercolor Wednesdays actually began July 9, 2008!! I can’t imagine where I got the idea that it started in August, but we had a wonderful banner last month and many great responses, so no damage done. The following illustrators (in order as they first posted) are the original members of Watercolor Wednesdays (marked with ** in the membership list):

Linda Snider Ward
Krisztina Maros
Linda Sarah
Michelle Henninger
Monica Carnesi
Bella Sabbagh
Roberta Baird
Leeza Hernandez
Lisa M. Griffin
The Enigma
Sumegha
Theresa Bayer
Wendy Martin (Lyon)
Jess (Jessica Stride
Vanessa Brantley Newton
Kristin Seelands
Heather Hamlin
Laura Taylor Mark
Angelic Pursuits (Angela Hawkins)
Mitchowl (Linda Mitchell)
Sarah Ackerley
Amy
Courtney Pippen-Mathur

Many on this list are still active, especially our favorite lady Vanessa—thanks!

If I’ve missed anyone, please let me know. I couldn’t find any info on the following original members: Sumegha, Theresa Bayer, Jessica Stride, Kristin Seelands, Amy. The blog addresses or websites that I have for them are no longer in existence. I’ll be sending out an email asking the original members to let us know what they’re up to. Thanks everyone for being a very important part of keeping Watercolor Wednesdays going!

My kids have always towered above their friends. Most of the time they wished they didn't stick out so much, but once in a while being taller has it's advantages.

I keep sketching out my ideas and then never get them painted enough to post. This time I decided to post it even though I can see a lot more I should putz around with. My day job is at a university and we started classes this week. I don't think time is going to get any better for me so I've got to cut my losses and run with what I've got.

I've loved everyone's posts. The night and day prompt should be fun. I guess I'd better get started on it.

Cheers everyone.

Auntie Bee Bee would have to bend those long legs of hers
so that she could see things from little Paige's view.
That's the long and short of it he he he he!!
This is watercolor and ink on hot press paper
then I put it into photoshop and played with it
some more.
Have a great week everyone.

This one's pretty old but it seems to fit...

Writer Ian Malone and I have been working on our own brand of humour cartoons focused on and around South African wildlife: Opera Savannah.

This particular strip I've always liked because of it's universal physical humour :)

Penny Noble

This is a little painting I did for this weeks topic. Dogs come in all shapes and sizes so this is my tribute to their differences. They are enjoying their walk along the beach. The short dog doesn't even have to have his feet touch the ground as the longer dog seems to be pulling him along. I'm sure they enjoy the fresh salt air on their noses and want to chase the gulls flying overhead. What a great way to spend the day!
