I don't consider myself a colorist, so I've been experimenting with something that seems to work for me: drawing in pencil first, using value, then print image off onto watercolor paper & watercolor the image. I draw much better than I paint & I think I've finally found a technique that works for me. Comments and/or constructive criticism welcome!
This pencil study is just as beautiful as the colored one. I just love what can be done with simply pencil lines. It's beautiful either way.
ReplyDeleteI really like look and feel of this technique, using pencil lines with value and then watercolor.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the work of Alicia Padrón? She's got a lovely style and uses this technique too.
