Artist's Choice - Stephanie Ruble
My choice this week was to do a painting of a football playing moose that I had sketched a couple of years ago (and had always wanted to do something with). Happy New Year!

Artist's Choice
I guess this one is one of my favs for 2010. I love doing trees and branches so it was fun to do so many in a different way. I am so looking forward to the New Year and starting some new projects.
Final piece of 2010.
Going to be painted soon. Unfortunately not in 2010. Drawing up thank you cards for New Years has taken up most of my time. I'll make sure I post it soon on my blog. Hope everyone had fun during the holidays! See you all in the new year!

Artist's Choice
Update: 12/26/10 Added cow and sheep for variety of shape and textures.
This week's assignment is the perfect opportunity to get some critiques on this landscape. Do you see any "awkward" parts? Is there a better way to arrange these hills? Your input will be very much appreciated. Thanks. *****http://carlaspicturebookadventure.blogspot.com/

All I Want For Christmas....
Merry Christmas, everyone at WaWe!!
Sorry I haven't visited for a little while - just been a bit snowed under (although not literally - unlike our UK members).
I hope you all have a great festive season, and look forward to catching you in 2011.
Winter Activities
Here is my submission for "Winter Activities". I have really been enjoying seeing everyone's creations and over the last year I have learned a lot about watercolors. I have also started a new blog and I have new goals which includes posting more often to Watercolor Wednesdays. I am looking forward to experiencing another year you awesome creative types!!!!
Winter / Christmas
The IF theme was "Mail" and I love to combine the themes with holidays. And it fits here to! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas! ~Kathy

Winter Activities - Stephanie Ruble
I painted this image at the beginning of the month for the Winter Activities prompt. Then I got an email from Illustration Friday with the prompt for this week, Phenomenon, which I thought also worked for this painting. It would be a big phenomenon if penguins started to ice skate! Maybe they’d even start a penguin Olympics! Okay, probably not. Here’s my penguin skating with his birdie friends:

Winter Wildlife
So for this theme I thought my bird was the perfect choice. She is a tropical bird but I adopted her in December for my birthday. I just remember her being alone in a cage at the back of the room during a snowy day. Best pet ever.
Question: How to make a banner
Hello All,
What size should my watercolor painting be if I am using it for my blog banner?
Thanks in advance!

winter wildlife
Sorry to be out of the loop lately but i have been ill for the last few weeks. Blah. Finally feeling a little better. I did this design last winter. It was done in watercolor and I added the border and type in photoshop.

Winter Wildlife - Stephanie Ruble
I was thinking about a girl starting to make a snowman when I wondered what would happen if a baby polar bear crossed her path.
I'd like to think they might be friends, that is if the mama bear or the girl's mother are not around.

"You can do it, Melvin! Stand up to those big ole Meanies!" Melvin heard Mama's voice in his head. This time he would stand up to Thomas and Bart!

December challenges and banner
I thought I'd post the challenges and the banner in case anyone wants to start painting before they have a chance to update the site.
December Challenges
1-7: Snowmen (traditional or unusual)
8-14: Winter Wildlife
15-21: Winter Activities
22-31: Artist's Choice To End The Year
The December banner (which inspired the first challenge) of snowmen made out of sand. It's snowing at the beach, which is hard to see in the small version, but will hopefully show up when the banner is live:
