baking away

Here is a design I am going to use for postcards. I love to bake and wondered how mice would go about this task.

Back To School

Casey wanted nothing to do with School Rules.
She thought it was bad enough that she had
to wear a uniform.

Fairy tale "Rapunzel"

Early august, we made a trip to the black forest in Germany and it was very inspirational. We came across a chapel with a beautiful straight tower in the middle of the forest. It made me immediately think of this fairytale, perhaps the beautiful hills covered with dense forest and fog had something to do with it!!

You can find some close ups on my blog.

Back to School...

...and back to the early morning struggles.

Off to school

Hi everyone, this is my first contribution to WaWe, I'm really excited to have been invited and I look forward to seeing all your great work!

Two friends walking to school, I aggonised a bit before posting this, while the subject matter is appropriate and I did start with watercolours/inks but I also used a digital 'cut-out' technique to cut out all the shapes ( it's a little like cutting out paper shapes and sticking them down to form a picture).

You can see some other examples of this technique on my blog, you're all invited :)

- And as a footnote: down here in South Africa, kid's wear school uniforms.

School Days

A short while back I was involved in a lovely project for Early Childhood education in schools. It was an interactive Flip Book/DVD with stories, music and songs and I was the lucky Illustrator. The package was called "The Rainbow Catcher".

Above is the "Rainbow Catcher" and the empty title page, both used on the cover.

It was great working with such enthusiastic people on a project that everyone held such a passion for.

Many thanks to Linda for making this post happen!

First post

Thank you for letting me join this group. I have been browsing this group and the talent is wonderful. I am looking forward to participating with everyone.

Here is my latest design. I really had fun working on it. It is mostly watercolor but I also used colored pencil and reg. pencil for fine detail.

Back to School

This is my first contribution to Wa We I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it. The back to school topic hit close to home as my Granddaughters start school next week. I pictured my Daughter being so relieved that the fighting and bickering will stop as least for a while. She might retreat to the beach or in a bed of flowers and if Mexico was closer that might be the destination. My Granddaughter said I was mean by drawing this but sometimes the truth hurts... This was done with acrylics on Bristol board. I love color as you will see after a while. And if you want to see more and read my blog it is http://pennynoble.blogspot.com/ Have a great week and see you next week.....

Saintly Landscape II

Here's what I'm up to--getting a piece ready for a watercolor competition. Everyone's illustrations look great on WaWe--thanks for being such an energetic group! I'd like to encourage postings of what you're working on (it doesn't have to match the challenge) & to please share how you're working--what went into the work, the steps. For me, this is a 14" x 20" watercolor of my St. Bernard & I want it to have a little bit of a surreal look to it. I took several photos of her & combined them. This is larger than I usually work, and I find that I need more "thinking time" with it--hanging it up & looking at it before I continue.

oceans: sruble

This is a drawing of a lantern fish that I did for Ripple. It also works for the WaWe oceans prompt. Plus, it cracks me up. Hope it gives you a laugh too!

A Different Cinderella

She was nothing like the other Cinders that had come before her.
This girl had a passion for fashion! She had magnificent and magical
skills as a seamstress. She was sewing and whipping up
fantastic clothing for the likes of Snow White, Fairy Godmother,
The Three Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood. Her list of clients
went on and on and on. Honestly, the girl was just to busy
for any stupid ball. This Cinderella was all about the money.
he he he he!!!
Have a good one!

Birthday

I was working on this the first week of August for Birthday and hurt my back,  so I am posting it late.  It's kind of sad that I came up with the prompts and end up posting mine late,  oh well.   Muscle relaxers relax me a little too much, my brain too.  I couldn't "do" anything.  Yuck, I hate it when I hurt myself !

Lost at sea

I did this quite a while ago...It was just a random illo for my portfolio. I think someday I would like to make a picture book with these people as characters in it.

My book's trailer

My new book is due for release on Saturday. The publisher had a trailer made.

For your viewing pleasure: Smoky and the Feast of Mabon

Please help spread the word. :D

Still working on goaty pirates.

Fishing with the Jellies

You won't find these in a real ocean. Jellyfish. How
can something so beautiful be so deadly?

Oceans

I love oceans - which is partly why I live on an island.  This is a picture I've been wanting to make for a while.  Months ago I saw a pelican circling just off shore and thought it would make a nice story - a girl and her pelican companion having adventures.  Where will they go?

Happy Birthday!

I joined Watercolor Wednesday about 20 months ago, not too long after it was formed. I love seeing all the new contributors and the old. What a great place to play together. Thanks Linda Kay, for creating this, and Happy Birthday!

Family Stuff

I am so excited to be apart of Watercolor Wednesdays! Between traveling and my summer internship, I have been swamped with work, but here is a piece I did for family Stuff (and my first official post). I can always tell who's home by the shoes that are left near the front door :)
