Ella Distracted
While on a family walk, Ella saw the most fascinating things.
Can you imagine? Triplet elephants? Just imagine how big you'd get while pregnant. ha ha ha. I almost had a disaster with this. I used a different kind of paper and when I went to wash off the gouache the paper started to disintegrate! I didn't panic, just layed it out on a table as flat as I could until it dried. Oh well, you learn by doing, right?
This was outlined in India ink and then gouache. When the gouache is dry you wash it off! (I know, it's hard to see all that expensive gouache going down the drain.) I've loved seeing everyones take on this. So many creative minds out there. I'm honored to be numbered among you.

What an interesting technique - and so effective. I just love the idea of one triplet who sees things a little differently. It really gives the idea of a story behind the picture. I adore Ella's pink toes, too!
I really like your take on triplets. Ella reminds me of myself. Always off somewhere else day dreaming. This is great work! There's a whole story in there.
very cute, love Ella! haha and that's also my name. ^_^
Great! I Love it! I hope it's okay that I comment even though I'm not a participant.
beautiful!! I especially love the last little elephant playing with a butterfly - really lovely work:)
We're honored to have you! Really nice illustration--love elephants. Just watched a program about a woman who takes in orphan elephants. They are such family animals & need the closeness. That's interesting about the gouache--as artist's, we're always experimenting. Good illustration.

I really love elephants (okay, I pretty much love all animals!) and yours are so adorable. I love their nails and the mommy's happy and proud expression.
That's a very interesting technique, using ink and goauche and then washing the gouache off... I would have never thought of it!
i also like this 'wash-off' technique! although they're triplets - they have different personalities. Ella is the curious one :)
i'm glad that i could make you smile and so sorry about your dad...
How fun!
