Meet Betty Needlemayer
Meet Betty Needlemayer. She is a teenage girl who loves to create Green Art. She takes
old clothing, fabrics and other junk and with her magical needle turns them in to wonderful toys
for children all over all the world. She tucks little message inside each toy. Her very own wish
for the child. Seems these toys have special powers and can get in trouble here and there. Still working on the whole concept. That is the hardest part for me. Coming up with the pictures
is easy, putting a story together is something totally different. Being dyslexic doesn't help. he he he

Vanessa--she's wonderful. I did click on the image to make it bigger so that I could really see it. I like her a lot! She does look "older" & I'm not sure why...she's a teenager? so maybe she needs to look a little younger. I love the concept & I think she's a great character! And! She looks like herself over & over again! Great job!
She's fabulous, Vanessa! I love her outfit, hairstyle, carefree look, the colors . . . Good luck with the story. And did you do this on your computer? Or is it watercolor?
I agree with you linda, I thought she looked a little more like 20 something instead and I think I will go with that. I will work on it!
She is wonderful V! I adore the "snooty" look. Perfect! In my opinion, she looks about twelve(ish). I could easily see her as a character in a chapter book - sort of like Sarah Pennypacker's Clementine. She defintely has personality (I wonder where she gets that from!) :-)
I love this character sheet - it's a work of art in its own right. Betty is a lovely character, original and intriguing. Great stuff!
This is wonderful V, and I just adore your story concept - I do hope the story comes to you more, perhaps that's Betty's wish for you in a special toy that you have hidden away!!!! Bravo - I love the toys too and their little stitches!
lovely character - i like so much how you show her expressions! especially love the toys, bunny and bear are fabulous, i would like these toys! :) yes, the girl looks a little bit order but she looks fantastic! really nice work, Vanessa!
Oh, she's perfect! What a great character sheet! And one of the things that I really admire is how consistent she is, from all angles.
The little boy I've been trying to work on, all I've done is very basic, front illustrations. The profile is eluding me! :-)
I know what you mean... sometimes one doesn't always fit the other, but this is a really great illo. Love how the needle and thread disect the composition yet still assist in pulling your eye throughout the frame. Great piece.
