OK, here is my second try. I think it's a little easier on the eye then the first one, but there is still something not quite right with it. Any ideas? I'm hitting the wall here.
i love the first one's autumnal colours but this second version is clearer because of the lighter background. your characters are great! i think maybe the composition is a little bit up - if i have to find any fault :) but it seems to me that you've just cut the top and the origin would be higher.
I like the pattern of the leaves that you have created in this one creating the feeling of a cool autumn breeze without so much of the pronounced SWOOSH in the previous one. I also like the added path, and tombstones in the background... I do miss the darker purple sky in this one, it seemed to tie in the color scheme more completely. Still love the characters and overall festive feel of this illo.
I think it's wonderful. If you have trouble with paintings becoming muddy when you use browns or purples, try mixing your own from the three primary colors until you have a color you like. Avoid any primary with sediment in it to avoid a "dirty" feeling. I find that I need to keep my water really clean too.

Lovely illustration! So fun-filled and I especially love the little ghost and the leaves - really beautiful work!

The costumes make this so much fun.
I still love the idea. And I like the ghost in the bottom right corner.
