It was a dark and stormy night …

I'm on a pirate kick at the moment, this is Pirate Jane ... her story is slowly starting to unfold in my mind, which I think has the potential for a chapter book. All thanks to the lovely Linda - cheers and thank you for inviting me to join the blog!

My medium is Acrylic/Pencil/Mixed Media. This particular piece is India Ink/Pencil and finished as Mixed Media. All the textures I create are made by hand with a water-based medium, usually acrylic. I have been experimenting with India Ink for my black & white illustrations though as a way to force myself away from 'greyscale.'

Hope you like!

Awesome pirate picture! My four year old pointed to it and said, "that's a neat one!" I love the line work!

Gorgeous! I love the composition, the strong contrast between the black and white, and such a cute pirate girl. I love how you did the sea too, those imaginary waves, curling up...

Great illustration Leeza! So happy you're a part of the site. Good luck with the book idea--I think you've got a good idea.

Thanks everyone. This was fun to work on, for sure, and I hope to create a few more — maybe some villains and other characters that will appear in the book.
Cheers!
