Babies

Babies are tons of fun to draw and, since I've got one, they are fresh on my mind all the time. I've been working on a book dummy for an idea I have and here are some illo's I've painted for it. (Since I got to choose prompts, I figured I might as well use what I've been working on so that I'd get some posts in at least.)

As I've been mentioning lately, I'm not happy with the way my color scanned in. I tried tweaking it in GIMP (like Photoshop) but in some ways it made it worse. The orange background in the boy with blocks and the yellow background in the shy baby are much purer in the actual paintings. Sigh. Let me know if you see anything that you feel I could do better with regards to any of them (and it doesn't bother me to hear your true thoughts . . . even if I may disagree).

*** Update *** I got a new scanner that arrived today and I replaced the old images with these. I think they look much sharper and truer to color. Hooray for good scanners!

I know how it is with color. See if you are working in cmyk or rgb. I have been having the same problem and having to go in with photoshop and play around with it to get it right! I love the whole lay out of your piece! You are showing so many real situations and this is fun and fabulous! This would do well in a children's book or a parent guide! I wouldn't change a thing. You brought your A game! It's just right with just enough. Great job!

These are great, Angela. Wonderful poses, and all very expressive. My favorite is the shy baby! :-)

I sometimes have a hard time with my scanner too, not getting the colors right...

I love getting to see the book ideas--keep them coming! Good luck with that--so far, everything looks very good. Cute babies, nice energy...

How fun! I especially love the little one peaking out from behind the legs. How true to life that is!! Not to mention the bowl on the head! You've really done a nice job capturing the essence of children.

I'm always fighting my scanner in regards to the "true color" of my work. I'm about to go through the tedious process of calibrating my computer for cmyk.

I like the wide variety of children, their expressions and activities in this piece. A great addition to a portfolio. :)
