More greenish things.

Before March ends: water lilies. (I believe that's the name in english right?) Here in Brazil we call it Vitória Régia (something like 'Regal Victory'). Anyway: this from another book I made.

Rearing my head! Book images

Okay so they are not for the prompts, but Linda asked to see some. There are more on the pub's web site here.

This first one took me forever with all the little nitpicky details and characters. The second one I am just in love with all the expressive hand motions. I think I am finally getting the hang of this! LOL

Sadly, my schedule for April has me on the road for more than half the month, so I don't know how often I'll be able to post more art, but I'll pop in whenever I have internet access to see how everyone is doing.

Happy Spring y'all!

Halloween Character

Hello everyone! This is my drawing for 'Halloween Character'. I know... it has nothing to do with pumpkins, etc... I'm sorry. But when I told to draw a character that I'd like to be for Halloween, I came up with the idea of this nonsense rhyme, all of a sudden. So... can I be Alice as in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland? :-)

OT I am so excited!

I just made plans to go to Denver, CO. On June 27th the COVR Awards Banquet is happening there. Guess what? My book An Ordinary Girl, A Magical Child is a finalist!!!!!

Finalists and winner will be announced on stage during the banquet. I am so excited I can barely breath.

I need to get some painting done, but life has been a bit of a turmoil at the moment as I scrambled to make arrangements to head out to Denver. I was just notified on Friday of the honor!

Anyone know of good touristy spots in Denver I should see before I come back home?

Thought this was perfect for the Rainy Day prompt. Hope everyone is well! =)

Three Little Pigs

for this image, I used mixed media: cut and torn paper (some paper was actually from watercolor images that didn't work--I never throw anything away!), color pencil, ink pen, and glue. I had fun with this & thought using different media from my norm was a good idea...I just let myself go, but I think collage is really not my thing!

Music Lesson

Here is the 'Music lesson'.
I scanned this on my scanner, and I should have taken a photo with my camera. It seems to look a bit grainy here, but maybe that is just me.
I also have a cropped version, so the details can be seen.

'Umbrella' & 'Dancing'

Hi everyone! I hope you have all been enjoying much creativity, apologies for the lapse in posting. When I joined I had high hopes of contributing consistently but life got in the way - I know we're all busy, so no excuse :> Anyhow, I'm happy to be contributing this week! I'm playing catch up though, so my entry is for last week's prompt 'umbrella' and the current one 'dancing'.

I think all the hurricane watches this past month have impacted my whole being here in Southwest Texas and so I have rain very much on my mind, hence the window view above. Good news is, I just found out that we're only going to get the tail-end of 'Ike' here by Saturday...

Have a great weekend y'all!!

Thumbelina & the Swallow

"Perhaps this was the one who sang to me so sweetly in the summer," [Thumbelina] said; "and how much pleasure it gave me, you dear, pretty bird." Such a sad part of the story, but what compassion in her heart to care for the dead bird and wonder if it was the one who sang to her.

This is my first submission here at "Watercolor Wednesdays'. I'm new to children's illustration and hope to share and learn lots through these prompts as it's a bit of a challenge for me with proportions and angles. As well, as much as I love watercolor, I do find it frustrating sometimes with respect to how much more control I have with colored pencils & pen.

Again, thanks for having me ;>

Thumbelina and the Swallow

This is such a sad part of the story but things change from this point, leading to a happy ending. I like a happy ending!

And this little piggy …

… loves Chocolate-Cherry-Berry ice-cream … but he doesn't like sprinkles!

Medium: Acrylic/Pencil (just in case you were wondering!)

What a great topic. I just finished reading "This Little Piggy's Book of Manners" written by Kathryn Allen and illustrated by the oh-so-talented Nancy Wolff. I just love her work! It's a great book by the way. Fab illos, fun read-aloud and great humor.

Thanks for having me aboard. This is my first submission. I hope you all like it. :)
