Back to School

I can't believe it's almost that time already. Sheesh. Where did the summer go? (Did we even have a summer?) I've got to think about buying school clothes ...

Hi Michelle--

So you sketch directly on watercolor paper? I've rarely done it, because it usually takes me a few times to get the drawing right. But it would certainly keep the illustration fresh and loose...

I once read something interesting about the British artist Charlotte Voake. She said she did not do any pencil underdrawing-- instead she draws and draws the scene or character over and over again until she gets all the lines right, and it becomes second nature. Pretty cool, isn't it? :-)

Great illustration! So funny. School has started around here already (year round) I bought back to school clothes after they started!

It is clear that this child has a passionate goal opposite his mother's. I love the color combo.
