Clucker and Crawler and Flyer

I drew this last Wednesday and then just couldn't find time to paint it. Tonight I decided I needed to escape to my studio and just kick back. This was fun. So many wonderful ideas to this prompt.

did you paint it on wood? there's great texture on the background! fine characters for a children's book! these remind me a poems of a famous hungarian poet Petőfi who had so much beautiful poems about life in village.

This was painted on illustration board. I painted gold leaf on, then a crackle medium. When dry I painted an light brown acrylic layer over the top. The rest of the painting was done with very watered down acrylics.

I'll have to look up Petofi. Thanks for the heads up!

This has a brilliant vintage flare to it. Like something found in an old children's french tail. I love it! I'm retro to the bone. This get my vote for sure.

I really love the muted colours, and the 'naive' style. I also like the use of the border around the image. Really lovely.
