Eleanor

The girl is Eleanor. She is an orphan. Nobody knows what's on her mind because she's so distant and cold. Just one thing, she's always carrying an empty bird cage around.

Honestly, i was so nervous while painting this illo 'cos i'm still practicing with watercolors. I'm not very good at this medium, my watercolor drawings start well, but i always manage to ruin them in the end :D

I hope i didnt ruin too much this time, i dunno... but i tried to do the best i could for WaWe ^_^

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

Very interesting use of the media. What kind of paper are you using. I like.

thank you Vanessa, yes, i'd like to practice more often. It's kinda fun!

Lyon, i use Canson Watercolor Pad. In fact, i had no idea what kinda paper i should use, i just bought it like that! (because it is written "watercolor paper") :D

You've done a great job! I love the color and the texture. It's very atmospheric! Nicely done. I'm looking forward to seeing more. :)

Of all the different brands of watercolor paper, Canson is the last one I would use. I don't like the way it interacts with the washes.

After years of experimenting, I finally settled on Kilimanjaro cold press Bright White. I buy it 50 full sheets at a time! Lasts about 2 books worth.

This is exactly the way I feel too: "I'm not very good at this medium, my watercolor drawings start well, but i always manage to ruin them in the end :D"

You didn't ruin this painting at all! It's wonderful!!! I love how Eleanor has drawn a bird on a bad and slipped it over her head. I hope you write a story about her. It would be interesting to find out what Eleanor is up to!

Your style fits well in the current picture book market. I like the colors, like others have said. I also really like her dress. Cool work!
